On Friday we conducted the first round of TNRM for the cats of this industrial site's colony.

First micro-site - alley between 4023-4

We trapped a total of 9 cats in this alley way behind Blk 4023. There are still about 2-3 more cats left at this micro-site yet to be trapped - they were hiding in the shops, the back doors of which faced this alley way.

Here are some of the cats we met before we trapped them for sterilisation.

And then we set the traps. It was very easy to trap them as they were all hungry. Below are some photos of the cats entering and inside the humane traps, lured by food.

We met some kittens, one of which was very scared of human contact and too young to sterilise. The others hid in the shops, even younger and still nursing (we did not trap their mom away from those young kittens). Here is the older kitten we saw -

We are hoping to conduct round 2 of TNRM at this industrial park, in front of the block 4024 where there are 5-6 cats, and the remaining cats at the alley way here still unsterilised, about 2-3. Tentative date is next Sunday evening.

We also asked the cat feeder Martine to give us an accurate per-block-cat-count so we can accurately gauge how many cats are there spread out across this entire site. Our Sterilisation Volunteer LY is handling the liaison with Martine and we can plan out more accurately how many rounds are required to TNRM the entire site identified. So far we only know there are about 30 cats in total, but not sure how the colony is mapped out and if this number is entirely accurate. More updates soon!

Bandit was adopted yesterday!

Bandit, the little injured-paws boy who was dumped at our door step, has a family now!

He was adopted yesterday by Lynn and her daughter Ika from Woodlands. This is their first time adopting a cat and Bandit will be the king of the household now being the only feline so well-loved! -

We shared a lot about cat care with them and their relatives who also came along for the visit. It was fruitful and we look forward to hearing from them about Bandit's new life in a forever home!

Update - with pictures! - on the Whiteys from Woodlands

The Whiteys have been with us for about 2 weeks now and here is their progress.

Their flu' has recovered! But not their diarrhoea. We put them on a second course of Metrogyl antibiotics but it didn't yield much relief, so today as per our vet's advice we switched them to Bactrim antibiotics instead. They remain on supplements for their immune systems, gastro-intestinal health and a touch of herbal flu' remedy just to make sure their flu' doesn't recur. We also diffuse chamomile essential oil for them in the foster lounge to help soothe their tummies and speed up their recovery.

We have also named them! Yes, we can finally tell them apart, and their personalities too.

Because of their diarrhoea and lots of spitting going on during medication time, they need lots of grooming and today they just had another shower and full grooming session, so it was naturally picture time!

First up, the biggest boy, Aryan -

Aryan is the biggest of the lot, and is quite agreeable when it comes to medication time. He is also somewhat protective of his siblings.

The other boy in the lot, Napolean, who is more sickly, absolutely hates medicine; kicking, spitting - the whole lot. But he became very manja towards us after one night and started talking to us more since then. What happened was that he started looking pale and when we took his temperature and checked his vitals, realised he was a bit hypothermic. We warmed him up with reheatable pillows, blankets and a hot water bottle, and droppered him with coQ10 and glucose. After that, he became better. I think he felt somewhat thankful that we made him feel better after that ordeal. Now he doesn't hate us so much because of the constant medicating. Here he is -

Next up is Ellis, the leader of the girls. She is really chatty, always leading the meow-parade. And like Aryan she is very agreeable and takes her medicine without much complaint. She is the one with the distinctive grey markings -

The remaining sisters are 2 prima donnas, Princess and Emma. Emma is slightly smaller in size and Princess has a 'beauty spot' of grey fur on her head like a supermodel.

We hope the Bactrim clears up their diarrhoea soon! Our vet says if it doesn't work, they will culture their faeces at the clinic to find out what exactly is the bacteria that resists the antibiotics. The vet has also ruled out FIP and feline panleukopenia - all of them are active and have good appetites.

TNRM project - Ang Mo Kio Industrial Park 1

We received news of a pressing sterilisation need in the AMK industrial estate colony of stray cats, specifically in Industrial Park 1.

Critical areas - Blks 4023-4028 and Blk 438

After a reconnaissance conducted by our Sterilisation Volunteer, it was found that about 12-15 cats reside at blocks 4023 and 4024 alone. Most of them hide in back alleys where there are moving cars, crates and heavy machinery, as well as welding works going on continuously.

Unfortunately, not all the 15 cats could be captured on camera as a lot of the cats hide inside the shops/flat factory spaces. Here are some of them that decided to come out last Thursday during the reconnaissance, most of them at block 4024.

We will be conducting a first round of TNRM at this area of blocks 4023 and 4024. The feeder has managed to sterilise some females here already so the population here is mostly male.

We haven't managed to fully recce the blocks of 4025-4028, we will have to go as a group to recce the cat situation completely. There are more cats at these other blocks, we just don't know how many exactly at this point. So there will definitely be more than one round of TNRM at this site after we complete the first round.


At block 438 there are only about 4 cats there, which is a furniture factory, so it is not as critical as blocks 4023 and 4024.

We are hoping to conduct the first round of TNRM this weekend as soon as we can confirm a date with Damy. Will update once date and time is confirmed!

Update: TNRM round 1 at this colony will be at 6pm on Friday 15 July.

Tango was adopted today!

Tango, the charismatic, playful boy was adopted by Samantha this afternoon!

Samantha is a horse-trainer who lives at the turf club with 3 other cats, and of course, horses, and other animals too. Her apartment is cat-safe and she supervises the cats' yard time in their enclosed garden. Her father occasionally lives with her as he is also a horse trainer.

Samantha's cats are all rescues from the Turf Club area, where she has been sterilising the strays. She has two resident stray cats outside her block which she feeds as well. Two of her older cats are handi-capable - one is deaf and the other is 3-legged. Her youngest cat has no one who wants to play with him much so Tango is going to be his play mate.

So far we hear the confident Tango has already warmed up to his new house and gotten used to the place! This is great news!

Bandit is ready for adoption!

Ivory and white male kitten, now 11 weeks old

Bandit was found abandoned outside our doorstep in a cardboard box, all injured. It turns out he had wounds - probably from running around on hot concrete - on his paw pads and around his face.

We brought him to the vet the Wednesday after he was found. The vet said his paw pads were inflamed and had him placed on Clavulox antibiotics and his inflamed paw pads to be medicated and bandaged. Eventually he healed and was no longer in pain.

This week we brought him to the vet again for a follow-up check up and booster jab. He is a-okay! Cleared and ready for adoption.

Nevertheless, he has always been a curious boy. Even with the bandages on while he was rehabilitating, he would explore the house when he had his 'yard time' totally unencumbered. It did take some getting used to but we knew he was an explorer right from the start -

Now that he is totally healed, he runs and plays a lot, and prefers solo-exploring and running, with the occasional wrestle with other kittens.

Bandit is a purring cat. Even when we had to medicate and bandage him, he would purr. Now when we pick him up, he purrs straightaway. He even purred at the vet's!

He is very easy-going, confident and not overly attention-seeking. He is ivory and white in colour and has a cute bob-tail.

Adopt Simone!

Adorable princess girl rescued by Serene in Marsiling is finally ready for adoption!

She has had a rough time, having had recurring flu' and not viable for vaccination till she recovered. She went through 3 rounds of antibiotics before completely recovering, and finally went for her first vaccination this week.

She is now 18 weeks old, though she doesn't look it - that baby-face -

We call her a princess because she is very picky about her litter box - she doesn't like to share it, and she loves to be held and cuddled with an I-deserve-it face. She also does not like to share food or toys! A real princess indeed!

And even though she is a princess, she does deign to engage in regular kitty-play activities.

Kit and Bran got adopted yesterday!

"We has Mommy and Pappy now..."

Charmaine and Marq who live in Novena, are really loving parents to their resident three cats - Tiger, Chun Li and Kamen. Kamen is a playful boy but his sisters get irritated by his antics, and Kit -loves- older boy cats to play with. Bran on the other hand is very sweet and respectful of older cats and from what we observe of how Bran interacts with our own two older girl cats, would be a perfect fit for Charmaine and Marq's two girls.

Charmaine specially took leave from work to integrate the cats with Kit and Bran, now named Koko and Kiki respectively. So far Kit has become a scaredy cat but Bran has been accompanying her and there are adequate safe places for Kit to hide in till she feels her alpha self ready to emerge. Bran on the other hand is very confident and the older cats while they hissed, Bran just has her way of showing her new older sisters she is not a threat.

We are very happy to report this wonderful family story!
